Wow! What an amazing event! I cannot even begin to describe what a massive success hosting Ron Paul at Wake Forest University was on April 20th, 2009. Really, you had to have been there. The event went off without a hitch (well, except for the bulb blowing out on the projector during the premier of National YAL’s cursed “I Pledge” video — lol –) and even Dr. Paul himself was taken aback by the energy, the support, and the success of the event. He stated when seeing the large crowd and standing ovation: “You’d think a campaign was going on!”
Here are some pics from the event:
You can watch the entire video to the event online here. More to come soon!
Joe Corrao and Will Wohler of the Campaign for Liberty recently made this video which sheds a bit of light on the Federal Reserve. Check it out!
The video’s major points:
- The Federal Reserve is privately owned, NOT a government entity.
- The Fed has NEVER been thoroughly audited.
- HR 127, the Federal Reserve Transparency Act, requires the auditing of the Federal Reserve.
By the way, HR 127 if officially on the move in Congress……things are happening!
I wanted to point out my article in the OGB this week about the problem’s with the Federal Reserve. The article, entitled Federal Reserve creates economic demise, can be viewed here.
Happy reading! Please keep in mind that I had to summarize how the Fed works in 800 words, so there are bound to be some holes here and there, but I wanted to put forth the general idea of the argument against the Fed.
On the infamous tax day, Wake Forest Young Americans for Liberty hosted a demonstration and petition against the bailouts, so called “stimulus” packages, and the harmful income tax imposed on the American people by the IRS. This was all a part of the much larger Tax Day Coalition.

In other news, really good news, the Wake Forest YAL’s progress on Congressman Paul speaking at Wake on April 20th, 2009 is speeding away. YES! Weekly recently published their latest edition with some advertisement for our event; it’s in one of the gallery photos above. One of the other photos is our chapter making some balloon posters for the event; indeed, it is going to be a blast!
We’ve been busy spreading liberty, we hope you have and will continue to do the same!
My editorial for this week’s Old Gold & Black, entitled “Federal Reserve creates economic demise,” discusses the Federal Reserve’s role in America’s economic collapse…and it is a big role. The article will not be published in print or online until this evening, but I wanted to go ahead and let you all know about the End the Fed protests that will be happening across the country in a few weeks.
On April 25, an End the Fed rally will be held at every single Federal Reserve branch in the United States. You can get specific info at endthefed.us. The nearest rally to our campus will be in Charlotte, NC. I live in Charlotte, and several YAL members will be heading down after class on Friday, April 24 and spending the night at my house. I strongly encourage anyone and everyone to participate in this event.
The tea parties on tax day were a great way to show general outrage at the policies of the Obama administration and this congress. Now it’s time to target a specific institution. Let’s show that not only are we pissed off, but that we know WHY we are pissed off.
YAL’s announcement of Ron Paul coming to speak at Wake Forest University on April 20th at Wait Chapel has taken the campus by storm. The Old Gold and Black recently covered the announcement on the front page (above the fold) of their latest edition.
Here is the press release by the Wake Forest Young Americans for Liberty announcing the confirmation of Ron Paul coming to Wake Forest University on April 20th, 2009 to speak at Wait Chapel. Doors open at 7pm. If you have any further questions please send inquiries to yal.wake@yahoo.com addressed to Jared Fuller.

So recently it was the anniversary of the Shock & Awe Campaign. March 20th, 2003 the United States began their invasion of Iraq and there has been very little new media coverage of the anniversary. Wake YAL, however, was not sitting silent on this day. Check out the youtube video and write up on the YAL national Site here:
I just wanted to say thanks to all the participants in the diversity week debate held by Student Government. Although the turnout could have been better, I must say that I was rather pleased with the overall results. Each time we addressed a topic, it came in the form of a solid argument that neither the College Dems nor Reps could contend with. As for the rebuttals, well, let’s just say we pretty much owned them. Take for example our closing rebuttal on marijuana legalization, the drinking age, and finally the Federal Reserve. I think the consensus was that the Federal Reserve system is about as known to mainstream debate as leprechauns are to Eskimos–the Reps and Dems are left out in the cold on such topics and we showed them where the truth doth lay. Liberty wins, statism gets pwned… What n00bz, pshh. (Oh yes, I did just use gamer slang)
