I want to thank the Library for adding the New Books @ ZSR and New Films @ ZSR to its website. This (along with many other changes to the website) shows your staff's great commitment to "customer" service.

Thank you so much for your kind remarks. We do try!

1) The water fountain on the 4th floor could use some repair. It tends to spray anyone who goes for a drink. 2) If something could be done so students would appreciate the library is a QUIET study space (ie if you want to talk, go to a study room; if you want to talk on your cellphone, do it in a stairwell. Not at a table surrounded by 20 others trying to study), it’d go a long way toward making the library a more effective place to study.

We called in the water fountain on the 4th floor. You might try floors 6, 7, and 8, which have been designated as quiet study and have individual carrels and tables.

Cold in the Library

Monday, March 30, 2009 1:12 pm

Is there any way to turn the temperature up even a few degrees? It is always much colder in the library than any other place on campus.

We wish we had more control over the temperature in the library, as it is often variable. We will call in your complaint to Facilities.

Water shut-off

Monday, February 16, 2009 3:04 pm

I would very much appreciate it if the water worked in the library. There were signs posted notifying students that Starbucks and Benson would be closed due to water main problems, but there was no notification that the water would not work in the library.

We all wish the library enjoyed uninterrupted water service, but occasionally we experience water main breaks and repairs such as happened last week Wednesday and Sunday. Both times, we did post signs at the front gates and on restroom doors that the water would be off. Everyone connected with the university regrets the inconvenience to library users.

Not sure exactly what you mean by greatest idea - Wake the Library? Graffiti wall? Whatever, glad you like it!

You are very welcome. We want you to do well on your exams!

Air Fresheners

Saturday, November 8, 2008 7:59 pm

Please remove the plug-in air fresheners from the computer room. This is my second year at Wake, and I spent the first half of this semester wondering why the computer lab smelled so bad this year. I finally figured it out! Many people are sensitive to air “fresheners” and other perfumed products, which can exacerbate asthma. I recognize that last year the lab smelled like a locker room, not pleasant, but if the problem is moldy carpet or other dampness issues, you are not making it better with air fresheners. Mold is also dangerous to health, and covering it up with air fresheners just increases the risk that students’ health is being compromised. If there is a problem with the carpet, pull it up and put down a tile or wood floor.

The air fresheners have been removed.

Searching for DVDs

Thursday, September 11, 2008 12:35 pm

Please update the media search page for DVDs with more options to narrow searches more effectively.

Thank you for your suggestion. We realize our current system is not all that functional for media. We have been testing an enhancement to our public catalog with the ability to limit by topic/headings, language, publication date, and possibly format. This will significantly extend the search/browse functionality in our current system. Look for an announcement on these new features soon!

Book Suggestions

Thursday, September 11, 2008 12:24 pm

There are several books which I think the library should consider purchasing. The Post Secret book series compiled by Frank Warren famous for ‘Post Secret’ would be fun to have on the shelves, as would the book titles The Art of looking Sideways by Alan Fletcher, an interesting art book I just learned about through my art class.

Thank you for your suggestions. We will pass them along to the staff who order books in this area.
