A new face on the blog
I am going to be missing Commencement for the first time in the 9 years I have worked here. My nephew is graduating from college the same weekend as WFU’s graduation, so - alas! - I will be there instead of here.
My colleague Emily Smith, whose handiwork you have seen on our web site, in the Meineke blog, and in numerous print and email pieces you receive from WFU, will be guest blogger for the next several days. I hope you enjoy her reflections and perspectives.
Congratulations to all our seniors and their families. We are going to miss you terribly but have a huge sense of pride as we see you off to your next destination in life!
I am extremely embarrassed by the administrations announcement regarding the lack of recognition for the SAT. This belittles the stature and accomplishments of our University. Obviously there needs to be some standard of measure to validate the under or over inflation of ones GPA. We all know that one teachers 4.0 may be harder to achieve than anothers. The SAT helps to make GPA scores more fair. Throwing out the SAT is no less stupid than throwing out GPA’s. You need both scores, along with mitigating circumstances and outside achievements.
The way to improve our school is to raise our academic standards, not lower them. Todays generation of high achievers want to go to Universities with the highest admission requirements.Th is is just plain embarrassing for Wake. What was this president thinking?????
