Assignment #3 (15 pts): Scholarly Resources (Due February 18)
Each person in the group will find one scholarly book and one scholarly journal article on your topic and enter it into their individual Google Docs page, along with your search strategy, how you located the item and why you chose it over the others on the same topic. You will sign your entry. You will also include a properly formatted MLA citation for each source. The scholarly book must be located through the ZSR Library catalog and the scholarly journal article must be located through one of the library databases.
For each item you will need to include the following information in your paragraph discussion of the resource. Your purpose should be to convince us that this is the best resource for your topic:
- How did you find the book/article (include search terms and search strategies)?
- What is its call number (or URL) and where in the library (or online) is it located? If the journal is online, do we also have it in print in the library or not?
- Why did you choose this book or article over others on the same topic?
- What do you know about the author of the book or article?
- Did the information in the catalog or database include reviews or an abstract? If so, what did they tell you about the book or article?
- How is it organized?
- What part(s) of the book will you use to research your topic? What would researchers on your topic learn from this part of the book?
- Special features, highlights, important aspects?
- Your evaluation or critique of the usefulness of this resource for people doing research on your topic.
